Family pictures with young kids is notoriously challenging. No matter the dynamic, there is some level of stress that is associated with these highly coveted pictures! I wrote a post last year about my best family picture success advice (check it out here!) so I am not writing today to give any advice, merely to share the result of the stress. It may take some preparation, work, or bribery (no judgement!), but it is always, ALWAYS worth it. (Husbands, are you reading this?!).
Now please excuse me while I cry over how perfect these came out and how adorable my kids are! You can shop our outfits if you scroll to the bottom of the post. But before you do, check out the cuteness! I mean, I may be biased but…. I am obsessed. Carry on.
Oh, don’t let me forget this. Help me not to forget the squinty eyed smiles, the insatiable desire to be held or the fierce independence and fearlessness (sometimes both at the same time). Let me never forget the giggles, snuggles, and sound of them calling out to mama. I am so thankful for pictures like this to help me capture this beautiful (and chaotic) phase of life!
Thank you to Bekad Scadding for these amazing pictures! Contact her here if you are local. She works some magic with kids (which if you have kids, you know that is hard to do!).
One of our favorite traditions as a family is to go cut down our Christmas tree every year. This past weekend we set out the day after we got back from Pennsylvania, ready to go chop down our tree. This is our first Christmas since our move to New Hampshire! We got all packed up, headed on the road to the most recommended cut-your-own tree farm in the area, and decided halfway through to just stop at an pre-cut tree farm. The wind was quite blustery and chilly and we were tired from our Thanksgiving trip, so it felt right. We were pleasantly surprised at how much we enjoyed it since we had been cutting it down ourselves for so many years! The kids had a blast running up and down the aisles of beautiful trees and selecting the perfect one.
We had planned to put a normal size tree in our living room, but we became fascinated with the giant ones because our new home can actually handle it! We ultimately decided to bite the bullet and got a 12 foot one for our foyer. It was a beast to decorate, but so worth it and the kids loved it. Check out the pictures of our day! You can shop our outfits in the widget at the bottom of the post.
You’ll notice Levi isn’t in as many pictures as the girls. It isn’t because I love him any less, it’s because most of his pictures look like this… #onegiantblur
Here she is in all of her glory! I need to fix that garland on the railing, I know. We started decorating with so much gusto and then I lost steam…
Did you get your Christmas Tree yet? Are you team real tree or team fake tree?! I’ll admit I may invest in a fake tree for the foyer and maybe do a smaller real tree in our living room… that thing is FAT!
One of the first projects we did when we moved in four months ago (how has it been four months already?!) was paint and decorate the kids’ rooms. They had been in a state of flux between selling our home (9 months) and living at my parents’ home (4 months). We wanted them to get settled as quickly as possible to help them feel stable. So while they aren’t “complete,” we made significant progress right away. There are quite a few things we still want to add/change, but here’s our progress so far!
When I asked Levi how he wanted to decorate his room, his response was orange. (And if you know him, that’s usually his response for everything. He’s obsessed!). I couldn’t stomach a bright bedroom, so we compromised with a monochromatic room and will add pops of orange. I just haven’t gotten that far yet…

Date night is highly coveted in our house. While official dates aren’t consistent, they are an eagerly anticipated break from the chaos that is three children. So you can imagine that when this special night comes around, I want to look my best! I mean we are to the point where my husband compliments me every time I wear makeup, which isn’t a lot #momlife #sorryhunny. I am not one for lipgloss or lipstick (I drink and eat too much which smudges or fades it). I am no makeup guru, but I recently discovered how much I could elevate my look by adding a little lip color. But what does one do when lipstick just isn’t a good fit?
Enter Lipsense by SeneGence. I was sent a sample by my friend Tori and while I was hesitant (lips aren’t my thing!), I was interested to try it out. Lipsense’s claim to fame is that the color lasts 18 hours and won’t smudge, budge, or kiss off. Let me tell you- with no exaggeration, this stuff LASTS and the claims are true! From getting ready, to kissing the kids on our way out, to a glass of wine and through dinner, I was so impressed! The color stayed on my lips and looked great. My husband couldn’t stop complimenting me! The color was very flattering and I felt great!

If Lipsense is something you’ve been on the fence about trying or even are just hearing about it for the first time, contact Tori! She is so sweet and fun and can help match you to your perfect color. Lipsense comes in 36 different colors and 10 glosses. And you can mix and match colors to make your own custom creation! So cool, right?! (I am wearing “Luv it”)
Do you ever have an item of clothing that you’ve been wanting forever, but you weren’t able to find “the one?” Well, that is the story with this pleated skirt. I feel like I have been looking for one for the longest time and finally, finallyyyy I found it. AND it happens to be part of the #nsale. Nordstrom, how I love you so. (There are some sizes still available, scroll to the bottom for direct links!) It feels like kittens are caressing my legs and angels sing when I wear it. Too much? Maybe a slight exaggeration. Only slight. ANYWAY, this skirt is perfect, so flattering and very versatile, and I am so glad I got it!
